Crescent Beach State Park – Located in Cape Elizabeth, this beach is a short 8 mile drive from Portland. This mile-long beach offers saltwater coves, woodlands and rugged ledges. Enjoy a picnic, watch the gulls and cast a line in or just walk along this beautiful beach.
Ferry Beach State Park – This sand beach stretches from the Saco River to Pine Point in this 100-acre park. Features include a nature center, changing facilities, picnic area and nature trails.
Fort Popham State Historic Site – Popham Beach will look different each time you visit. This is due to continual sand movement as the waves sculpt the shoreline. At low tide you can walk to Fox Island and explore, or search for sand dollars along the many sandbars.
Reid State Park – Perfect for the whole family, this park has two wide sand beaches, rare in Maine. The park is a popular place for birdwatching and fishing. Reid also features a saltwater lagoon for those who prefer warmer water, as well as picnic areas with grills and hiking trails.
Scarborough Beach State Park – This is one of the warmer sand beaches in Maine, with water temperatures reaching the high 60’s in July and August. With limited parking spaces, it is recommended that visitors arrive before 12:30pm on weekends.
