Apply now for Maine’s 2018 Moose Permit Lottery!  An important change has been made to the application process this year.  Applications will only be accepted online starting in 2018- no more mailing them in!  IF&W suggests those who do not have a computer use one at work (on lunch or break, of course!), head to the local library, or ask a friend or family member for help.  The deadline to apply online is 11:59 pm on May 15th, 2018.

Help Keep Maine’s Moose Population Healthy for Future Hunts

IF&W is requiring all moose hunters who receive an Antlerless Moose Hunt permit in WMD’s 1, 2, 3, 4, and 19 (October 22-27, 2018) who harvest a female moose to bring the ovaries and/or reproductive tract to the first open registration station.  The Department has two instructional videos demonstrating how to remove the ovaries and a second showing how to locate them after field dressing.

Maine’s 2018 Moose Hunting Season Dates

Here are the dates and WMD’s open to moose hunting:

  • September 24 – September 29, 2018:  WMD’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, and 19
  • October 8 – October 13, 2018:  WMD’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 27, and 28
  • October 22 – October 27, 2018:  WMD’s 1, 2, 3, 4, and 19
  • October 29 – November 24, 2018:  WMD’s 15 and 16
  • October 27, 2018 (Maine Residents Only):  WMD’s 15 and 16

Maine’s 2018 Moose Permit Drawing Date

The drawing for Maine’s limited number of moose permits will be held on June 9th during the Skowhegan Moose Festival (June 8-10) at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. Click here for more information about the Skowhegan Moose Festival if you’d like to attend.

Apply Now for Maine’s 2018 Moose Permit Lottery

Application fees are $15 for Maine Residents and Nonresidents pay $15 for one chance, $25 for three chances, $35 for six chances, and $55 for ten chances.  Those selected during the lottery drawing pay permit fees of $52 for Maine Residents and $585 for Nonresidents.  Click here for more information about Moose Hunting in Maine or Click here to Apply for the 2018 Maine Moose Permit Lottery!
