Bradbury Mountain State Park – Located in Pownal, the hike to the top of Bradbury Mountain is a short 0.3 mile via Summit Trail. The trail is not very steep and easy for most hiking abilities. A picnic area and playground are located at the trail head.
Mount Battie – Camden’s Mount Battie Trail is a great 0.5 mile hike with kids, and from the summit you can view the surrounding coastal islands and town of Camden below. A beautiful stone observation tower is located at the summit.
Mount Blue State Park – Located in Weld, this state park offers many amenities including campsites, a loop trail, swimming, picnicking and a playground at Webb Lake. Additional trails on Center Hill and Tumbledown Public Lands are nearby for a backcountry experience.
Peaks-Kenny State Park – This park is located in Dover-Foxcroft and offers 56 campsites, wooded trails, a sand beach on Sebec Lake, picnic areas, swimming and a playground. Ten miles of easy hiking trails wind through the 839 acre park.
Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park – Just a five minute drive from the heart of Freeport, this 200 acre park is a popular family destination. Shoreline exploration and bird watching top the list along this network of ocean-side hiking trails. Picnic areas and grills are located on site.
